Montessori Learning Center, a learning centre dedicated to the development of intellect and physical growth of children in the 3-6 age group. Facilitated by highly qualified, early childhood professionals, children in a multi-age setting become self-motivated, independent, lifelong learners. The Montessori method allows each child to progress individually according to their ability. In the Montessori Learning Center, children are allowed to Follow their own path and work with the learning material of their choice. The materials are scientific pieces of apparatus designed to help the child’s mind focus on a particular quality. The materials are concrete, allowing the children to see and touch, and visually experience concepts instead of just memorising information. In the Montessori Learning Center, the children create for themselves the ability to operate in the world. They use their energy creatively, and we strongly believe that creativity is not limited to art and music, but is essential to the whole curriculum.

Every allotted Sanctuary time imparts important life lessons to a child, which in turn forms a strong foundation for them to respond to life situations.

Experiential learning is considered to be a very effective way of learning and understanding Science and Math. To encourage its incorporation in classroom practice, we have set up the Junior Science & Math Activity Centers. These Activity Centers are equipped with interactive materials, models, and toys that can be used to teach Science and Math in an engaging and hands-on way. The objective is to strengthen teaching and learning of science by use of these simple materials, models, toys, and hands-on activities. It helps children gain a visual experience of the abstraction. It’s primary aim is to help improve the conceptual understanding of topics from the curriculum. This will, in turn, improve the teaching-learning process in classrooms to benefit students.
The lively pre primary play area is a riot of colours with a constant buzz and chatter of little ones actively engaged in activity and free play. The play arena is designed to nurture creativity and fosters peer interaction. The equipment is designed keeping in mind the safety of young ones at the same time giving students an opportunity to learn and play. A unique feature of the play equipment is that it is designed as an inclusive area.
The school has an infirmary with a qualified nurse to assist the students when they need immediate medical attention. We also have a tie-up with the nearest hospital for any emergencies until the parents arrive.

In our effort to make education multi-dimensional, beyond the four walls of a classroom, we at SVIS, Bangalore have a large amphitheatre to host various academic and extracurricular activities. The generous space with a large performance stage surrounded by ascending seats and modern designs makes it the perfect venue for activities and events. Well-ventilated and equipped with modern projection and audio systems with access to the internet, it is thoughtfully planned to inspire a learning experience and encourage participation in academic and cultural activities. The amphitheatre as a circulation area has been designed as an area open for Morning Assembly, socializing, where students can study and do homework alone, or at the same time study or socially interact, make little speeches, drink and eat something, in little groups. Students prefer the stairs of the amphitheatre, because they are more comfortable and not obliged to be formal unlike the classroom. Students are more social and feel free and relaxed here. This area is most prominent in the school and called the heart of the school where informal activities can be performed. Thus the amphitheater serves as a public space for learning, teaching, self-studying, eating, resting, playing, talk shows and so on. The stairs are located between the ground floor and first floor in the central area, providing visual communication between the entry and all the other floors.
School books, stationery, and uniforms will be available on the school premises at the beginning of the academic year.
The school provides transportation facilities to students. The bus routes are so planned to ensure the closest pick up and drop off points. We have trained and experienced drivers, accompanied by a female attendant present on the bus, who takes care of the Children. Parents/ Guardians who wish to avail themselves of the school transport facility should apply for the same at the beginning of the academic year.

We at SVIS believe that participation in the school meal programs improves dietary intake; children learn about healthy eating and thus make better food choices. The school offers Meal plans in consultation with a renowned nutritionist and ensures that students have the nutrition they need throughout the day. Meals served through these programs meet the specific nutrition requirements that include more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and less sodium and trans fat. These plans are also intended to educate the children on waste disposal and segregation, imbibe good hygiene and eating habits. The social atmosphere in the dining environment is critical to the learning that occurs there. The routines of waiting for everyone to be seated or served, eating and talking together, and clearing the table are important ways to learn and practice respect, patience, and good manners. Over time, the acquisition of these social skills will begin to influence the culture of the entire school.
The School provides supervised daycare facilities to its pre-primary students with planned, age-appropriate educational activities that help build their foundation. Children learn through play-based learning and structured learning programs which include a good mix of reading, counting, art, and writing. We focus on developing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor abilities and early literacy and numeracy skills, which makes their transition to kindergarten much easier. An added benefit while attending a daycare program is that a child receives socialization. Through play with peers and interactions with adult staff members, children learn valuable social skills including sharing, adjustment and communication skills.

We believe that Art is closely related to life; it is all around us. Art Education is an essential way to learn; a creative expression of ideas using imagination and inventiveness. Knowing and understanding of the arts helps children to express themselves in different creative art forms, they are comfortable in. Music is what feelings sound like; movement manifests emotion; voice modulation gives way to the inner self; drawing reveals the inner layers of the mind – This is Art education. The curriculum at SVIS is a perfect blend of the academics with the arts – both performing and visual – drawing, painting, craft, music and dance, theatre, and public speaking, under highly qualified teachers/ instructors. Art education has been linked to advanced cognitive development in children. According to Howard Gardener’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, students who take art classes develop an increased capacity to learn because they expand their learning styles beyond linguistic and mathematical reasoning in their traditional classes. Art is also beneficial for students with special needs. The thrill and joy children attain after involving themselves in different activities helps them to learn and imbibe fast and the learning remains ingrained for life. It’s a holistic development – students pick up important life skills from their education in the arts, such as better memory, self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation, self- motivation, and an ability to communicate symbolically.

Yoga and dance form an essential part of our co-curricular program, promoting balance, flexibility, and self-expression. While yoga nurtures mindfulness, focus, and inner strength, dance—both Indian and Western—encourages rhythm, confidence, and creativity. Together, they help students maintain physical well-being and emotional harmony.
The changing world and the environment outside has highlighted the importance of Value Education as an integral part of the school curriculum. The responsibility of giving to the world not just educated but also responsible citizens with a reflective attitude towards society rests with the school along with the parents.
At SVIS, our teachers are trained to Weave values into their lesson plan irrespective of the subject being taught.
Values help build character and education without a strong character is like a rudderless ship. We at SVIS are committed to a holistic education.

At our resource centre we have trained, experienced and sensitive special educators to help students reach their potential. We provide support to students facing challenges which interfere with their learning and help them in the general education program. We would like to teach students the way they learn. Our endeavour is to tailor programs to address each student’s unique combination of needs. Our Learning centre has been set up in collaboration with Adhyan Trust and Teachers Collective. ADHYAN is a registered charitable organisation set up with the objective of supporting vulnerable women and children in need by equipping them with the skills, tools and the mindset to overcome difficulties and chart their own destinies as productive members of society. The areas of work include Women Empowerment, Health, Special Education and Community Initiatives. The Teachers Collective is a conglomeration of teachers who want to reach beyond their classrooms to work with children to make learning a fun experience. Their ways of working with children are sensitive, trauma informed and inclusive of different learning needs.
The Composite Lab is where curiosity comes alive. Through simple experiments and exploration, students learn by doing — discovering how science and creativity connect to everyday life.
